Thousands of Teenagers Shut Down Kentucky Mall

A mall in Louisville, Ky became a frightening scene for holiday shoppers after thousands of teenage criminals flooded the mall causing multiple disturbances and fights.

In what local reporters are calling a near riot situation, as many as 2,000 teenagers showed up at Mall St. Matthews in Louisville, Ky in what looks to be a coordinated attempt to create chaos and force a confrontation with police.

A 40-minute police scanner clip recorded and uploaded to Minnesota Police Clips and authenticated by the St. Matthews Police Department on Sunday captures the chaos officers were dealing with: multiple fights, loitering, vandalism, reports of shots fired, and hundreds of juveniles refusing to leave the mall.

Officer Dennis McDonald, a spokesman with the St. Matthews Police Department, told reporters “Once this starts happening, kind of a mob mentality takes over and it starts feeding on itself.” … “That’s clearly what happened last night. We’re still looking into whether or not some of this was pre-planned, whether there was a gang element involved.”

According to WDRB, who interviewed witnesses on the scene, police began receiving multiple calls of shots being fired, people being attacked, and stores being overrun by teenagers who were involved in fights and vandalism of mall property.

Kaylee Mitchell who was shopping when the disturbances broke out told local reporters, “I was waiting on my dad because a couple of minutes before they closed the doors of the store I was in and they asked us (customers) to leave,” she said. “At first I just saw a few people running, so I started to record the video on my phone until I saw everyone start to rush towards the nearest door. I was in front of Dillard’s. I ran in and everyone else did too, even employees.”

Mitchell said it was the “scariest moment she’s ever had.”

“After it calmed, I asked a few people and they all told me they heard someone yelling that there was a gun,” she said.

Instead of actually doing their job and arresting these teenagers, the St. Matthews Police Department apparently choose political correctness over public safety and decided not to arrest a single person involved in the incidents. Officer Dennis McDonald told reporters that in an effort to resolve the situation, officers focused on dispersing crowds and getting people home safely instead of arresting individuals.

This is something you need to be prepared for.

We’ve covered these types of flash mob events in the past, something the mainstream media refuses to do since it’s apparently politically incorrect to show a bunch of inner-city thugs yet again creating chaos.

It starts with Situational Awareness: The only way you can really protect yourself from these types of events, especially the ones that turn to violence, is to be extremely aware of your surroundings.

  • Realize these attacks can happen anywhere, even at places that you’ve visited thousands of times in the past. These type of criminals like to attacks malls and large events so you must stay aware of your surroundings at all times, even in areas where you routinely visit.
  • Put down the cellphone and pay attention to your environment. It’s hard to know what’s going on around you if you have your head buried in an electronic device.
  • Trust your instincts: If something doesn’t seem right, pay attention to your gut feelings and get out.

Watch out for large groups. If you notice an abnormal increase in the number of people in your area, this is probably the first sign that something is about to happen.

Study the art of Self Defense, and always carry Protection: It’s extremely important to learn how to defend yourself when facing multiple attackers. It’s also important to learn how to defend yourself with a firearm. These events often turn violent and attacks often come from more than one individual.

Check out our article on How to survive a Riot. From the riots and looting in Baltimore and Ferguson, to a rash in flash mob attacks at malls and shopping centers throughout the United States, the world seems to have reached a boiling point where one little spark can cause things to go bad pretty quickly. You need to be aware that these things can happen quick, and you need to have a plan of action for how to escape the chaos.
